From a Native American point of view, we travel our lives in a circle, rising higher with each completion. Many times, we say we want to “get back” to where we were before, never realizing what those words mean. Between then and now, each of us has changed with life’s lessons, and we have grown to be different. It doesn’t mean that our personalities have changed, rather that we have evolved to a greater understanding of the world around us.
I believe that we do travel in a circle, spiraling higher with each completion. I believe that to go back to a time means that we would forget the lessons learned. . .thus going through them again and again and again, until we learn them. Personally, I wouldn’t want to experience my lessons again. . .once is enough!
In my last post, I mentioned re-connecting with a long lost friend. We have since visited, and it was like we had never been apart. Both of us had changed through the years, but we still talked like old friends. I think we spent all day talking, and well into the night. All the changes made our friendship stronger. It was wonderful to find my “sister” again, and still have the connection.
So, like the moon that circles the Earth and the Earth that circles the sun, our lives are cyclic too. It is up to each of us to make the most of our lives. It’s just as easy to be positive as it is to be negative. Remember, the choice is yours. . .
